Many people say "I am not a runner" or "I can't run" and I felt the same when I was younger. I did not enjoy running until I was 26. It was then that I started to realize that I needed to take better care of myself and I started running. When I started I would only go about half a mile and then I would need a break and then I would run a little more. It was hard and it did not feel good. I would come home everyday and wonder why was I doing this? After about 2-3 weeks it started to be easier. It didn't hurt so bad. It got me excited that I was making improvements. It was motivating that I was now able to run a little bit farther. I kept adding just a little more distance every week. Eventually, it just became a part of my routine. My body craved running. This was surprising to me, I had never been a runner. Running is hard but if you can push through and practice on a consistent basis it will become easier as it did for me. I don't always feel like running and many times I actually dread it, but I know that once I run I will feel better and I will be happy I did it. I can't express the difference running has made in my life but it has all been good. All the things that are listed on the left have happened to me, my quality of life is better since becoming a runner. As a PE teacher, I strive to pass this experience onto my students so that they may also make improvements to their health, fitness, and most importantly their quality of life.
